As I begin the last of my maximum 6 year term on the Board of Directors of the Institute of Translation and Interpreting (ITI), I am delighted to be re-elected for a third year as Vice-chair. Volunteering to serve for my professional association, both on the Board and as conference organiser, is my way of giving back to a profession that has given me a fulfilling career. I look forward to working alongside the new Chair of the Board as ITI continues to promote the highest standards and support its members.
2016 marks the 30th anniversary of ITI. Much has been done in that time and there is plenty still to do. Although my role is tiny in the grand scale of things, I am thrilled to be involved in making Translate in Cambridge and the ITI Conference 2017 happen. By getting together and striving to be the very best they can, translators and interpreters really can make a difference.
